Respect life by giving it your everything. Recently I’ve experienced the fragility of life. It comes and goes so suddenly, sometimes without warning. So why not experience as much of this Universe as you can. It’s pretty great.
Tell people what you think, don’t hold it in. Communication is an amazing thing. We humans can actually exchange our deepest thoughts and feelings to one another! Not expressing a thought would just be a waste of a synapse.
Being too comfortable doesn’t do anything for growth and momentum. I constantly surprise myself when I’m put in positions that make me feel a little (or very) uncomfortable. It’s a hugely reassuring boost of confidence when you can achieve something from a state of apprehension. I would like to apply this to existing in the Universe: We can always do more than we think we can, but it’s sometimes hard to try when there is no motivation or catalyst.
Don’t believe in ‘overnight success’. Success is an unquantifiable, intangible force that requires constant hard work and maintenance. To me the triumph is to stay on top, rather than getting there.
Stress causes illness. Your mind and body is all you’ve got so treat it kindly. I am guilty for neglecting the fact that mental wellbeing goes hand-in-hand with the physical form. For me stress manifests itself in the most bizarre physical forms, but nonetheless it affects every dimension of my life. To be able to cope with stress and stress-causing things, is a true win. I’m still working on it.
Nice things are meant for sharing. I don’t understand people who feel the need to keep special things a secret. Things that make you happy are so much better when they also make other people happy. In the case of stores, restaurants, bars, etc. they can’t survive on a small circle of exclusive clientele! Don’t you want them to be successful? Stay in business for ever? My love for cooking stems from this idea. There is nothing more satisfying than making others happy, so for me cooking is not about the food but about creating an experience that can be shared. It always puts a smile on my face when i can make someone feel something through food.
Eat more butter. Upping my fat intake this year has done wonders for my health as well as overall physical and mental performance. Have lots of grass fed butter, coconut oil, and coconut milk, while keeping sugar and grain intake low. Even better, stick to an anti-inflammatory diet. You’ll be able to do so much more than you thought you could, and you’ll bounce back much faster if you hit rocky pathways.
Love is so precious. Experience it, give it, spread it on everything like it’s cream cheese… extra thick.
See you next year!
Lauren.
