I love being in the middle of wild weather and wild landscapes. It’s a refreshing reminder that we are only tiny grains of sand in a dessert that spans for an infinite distance through time and space. It’s also why I find myself longing to escape the city when I’ve spent too long cooped up in my apartment. It’s why I love the feeling of waiting for waves in the middle of that huge span of water, just floating amongst the invisible microorganisms that call the sea their home. This feeling is definitely a freedom, a freedom that tells us that we only have so much control over ourselves, and sometimes we must surrender to the Universe’s magnificent force.
Being in nature, no matter whether I’m catching dinner, floating, riding, running my fingers through furry moss, or taking in the world around me, is the most humbling form of existence. It’s power is a nice reminder that we are only human.
