ON SET FOR W’MENSWEAR AW16

2016 is a big year for the studio, we are launching our own line of workwear for women appropriately called W’menswear and we couldn’t be more excited about it. So this Northern Hemisphere winter our first drop will arrive in stores and we would like to share the whole journey with you, starting with the look book story.

RESEARCH, FIELD WORK, TRIAL & ERROR. [ VISUALISING THE UPCOMING SEASON ]

We helped style what we do best, vintage workwear pieces to help visualise a story for the upcoming ladies’ Cabourn x Lybro season. Our research into women at work during WW2 has lead us down this elegant pathway that painted a platform in the discourse of feminine identity. We are fascinated with the idea that women express their femininity, not only instinctually but in pushing our ability and intellects. That’s why we draw so much inspiration from the greatness that grew from this romantic era.

BY GOSH, WHERE HAVE OUR MANNERS GONE? PTJ FOR GOOD-MANNERS

It is our duty here is to point your noses towards goodness. We are pushing for a new, inconspicuous definition of that really overused word, ’luxury’. So here is our combined effort to continue expressing freedoms that come with existence. The freedom to continue in a climate of much political strangeness, and the freedom to show the world what goodness is really made of. Presenting, Good-Manners

SEAHORSES. [ CABOURN X LAVENHAM COMING ATCHA FOR WINTER 16 ]

We are proud to release the latest Nigel Cabourn collaboration with Lavenham which has seen the two brands working together within their own home turf in Britain. We travelled to Holy Island, a few clicks north of the design studio in Newcastle to shoot the upcoming looks for the horse-y winter situation next year. If you take a look closely, you’ll find all the lovely Cabourn hardware like the cameraman clips, sitting alongside the classic Lavenham snap buttons and quilting. It’s like playing hopscotch with a childhood pal, simple and fun as that.

THE ALL FEMALE PASTRY DATE. [ W’MENSWEAR ]

The meeting of three really rad women, strangers at the time, from three corners of the Earth, connected by one thing. All that tingles in the air is the crunching of viennoiserie, syncopated by the ting of spoons clashing with coffee cups, and the start of conversational discovery - people trying their best to relate, be relatable, share joy, and give some kind of meaning to existence.

We’re delighted to see French label Sessùn coming forward with a super military-inspired outerwear collection. Think about heavy military coats in virgin wool, tailored to a super feminine shape to bring back elegance to the silhouette... And they didn’t miss a beat in bringing out the cable knit turtleneck back (respect).

WHAT REALLY GOES INTO OUR PICTURES [ PTJ BROKE THE INTERNET. ]

This is a little exploration into the art of styling, and the delicate art of having your picture taken. There are so many elements to be considered and it can be an all overwhelming experience. The way we see style or coolness if you like, is something that can’t be put down in words. You can’t dissect it, nor can you force to try to capture its essence. So don’t bother trying to force it into a photograph. We take you in on what goes into a PTJ photoshoot with this series by Ryan Plett in NYC.

MOMENTS.

Not so long ago we styled a little w’menswear piece with our pal Christopher Wadsworth for L’Optimum magazine. He has beautifully shot this short for the project and it’s basically a wink to the in between moments that we seem to pass by in life. Enough said.
