FALL W’MENSWEAR AT THE BROOKLYN CIRCUS / PF FLYERS x BKc RAMBLER

FALL W’MENSWEAR AT THE BROOKLYN CIRCUS / PF FLYERS x BKc RAMBLER

What’s to come at The Brooklyn Circus this fall are some kicks that will put up a meaty fight to canvas shoe category, with that great BKc promise to rep the history books in all American style. It takes a really thoughtful person with skilful eye to edit something so well that people can understand what it’s about without too much thought. I take my hat off to whoever can.
PORTRAIT OF A WOMAN / WMENSWEAR

PORTRAIT OF A WOMAN / WMENSWEAR

History is what inspires and informs who we are here at Ponytail Journal. It guides us forwards, inspires us to create, and perhaps gives us space to revisit our own identity. This week’s w’menswear editorial is much a reflection of history’s greatness that we strive to keep alive. The setting is much inspired by early portraiture that characterised early photography where thought, consideration, styling and the preciousness of each shot were made it special.

MOMENTS.

Not so long ago we styled a little w’menswear piece with our pal Christopher Wadsworth for L’Optimum magazine. He has beautifully shot this short for the project and it’s basically a wink to the in between moments that we seem to pass by in life. Enough said.

John Tesoriero lives and breathes our fundamental values about living the funnest life possible, and creating things that speak to quality, functionality, and heritage. His blog "Papa Nui Says ..." is dedicated to military, surfing, form and function, a great resource for people like us who have a passion for greatness through history. ’Oh yeah he makes beautiful things like military wear and post-war engineered surf boards so we asked him about life.

WHEN ATELIER DE L’ARMEE CAPTURED THAT SWEET SPOT IN THE UNIVERSE.

There can’t be yin without yang too far away. Elza and Joost of Atelier de l’Armee are the breed of folk who enjoy well made objects that tests the truth of time, and the pockets of fun that inspire us in life. We ’expound’ on how it takes a highly evolved human - or a fine match between two (sometimes opposing) minds - to produce a product that speaks to people today while referencing greatness through history.

MATTHEW DOLAN MADE A NEW FLAVOUR FOR GALS LIKE US.

Matthew Dolan made a new food-group everyone. He shredded his classic American sandwich up into strips, wove it into a rainbow cake and when you bite into it, you burp unicorns while farting sparkles. The sum of its parts made a whole new thing. It’s workwear for women at its highest evolution.

HOW WE DO MILITARY IN THE TROPICS / PTJ FOR L’OPTIMUM MAGAZINE

This month we did a style feature for L’Optimum magazine in Thailand. Garments were all from the Ponytail Journal closet, and we put together some styles that really shout out to who we are and what we’re all about. This is how we do vintage military in the tropics.

MILITARY JOE / HOW YOU DO

MILITARY JOE / HOW YOU DO

This is pretty much how to do military by a true vintage guy, our pal Joe. We caught his US and British ensemble on camera in Tokyo to show y’all how its done.
