WELCOMING BIVOUAC STORE !

Our friends Battenwear are turning retail topsy-turvy by setting up camp on the 16th floor in NYC’s Garment District. Adventure loving guests are welcomed with homely and heart-warming knick knacks like dinosaur figurines hiding about the store’s shrubbery; vintage maps; the tropical smell of their very own surf wax; as well as stacks of old surfing and camping mags that you can flip through while waiting for your mate to try on different colour combinations of their vast style range for guys and gals.

THE HILL-SIDE ARE BRINGING BACK VELCRO SNEAKERS IN A WHOLE NEW WAY.

Our friends The Hill-Side have genuinely wizard-ed their way into our shoe hall of fame with their just released Bridge Mid Sneaker, a brainchild of theirs that apparently came from a 70s US military ’Delta Shoe’, but to us its something of a hybrid of the WW2 chukka (maybe familiar now to you as the desert boot) with the herringbone sole of a clay court tennis shoe.

WHAT HAPPENED WHEN CONTOURING BROKE THE INTERNET / VOGUE

It’s a fact, contouring is the word of the moment for us women, but is it going to be forever relevant? Of course a little part of us wants to look Hollywood at best, but I’m here to say that the answer can’t possibly be masking our skin. Besides, IRL, wearing it thick is not going to be good for your skin in the long run.

FALL W’MENSWEAR AT THE BROOKLYN CIRCUS / PF FLYERS x BKc RAMBLER

What’s to come at The Brooklyn Circus this fall are some kicks that will put up a meaty fight to canvas shoe category, with that great BKc promise to rep the history books in all American style. It takes a really thoughtful person with skilful eye to edit something so well that people can understand what it’s about without too much thought. I take my hat off to whoever can.

WHAT REALLY GOES INTO OUR PICTURES [ PTJ BROKE THE INTERNET. ]

This is a little exploration into the art of styling, and the delicate art of having your picture taken. There are so many elements to be considered and it can be an all overwhelming experience. The way we see style or coolness if you like, is something that can’t be put down in words. You can’t dissect it, nor can you force to try to capture its essence. So don’t bother trying to force it into a photograph. We take you in on what goes into a PTJ photoshoot with this series by Ryan Plett in NYC.

TO WILFRED, A MANHATTAN LEGEND.

New Yorker Bank Tangjaitrong writes about his memories of the late Wilfredo Rosario, who could transform garments as if you were the fit model to original designer. His absence is already strongly felt within the tight community of Manhattan.
