WMENSWEAR NEIGHBORHOOD GUIDE 01: MADBACON STORE

WMENSWEAR NEIGHBORHOOD GUIDE 01: MADBACON STORE

A note from Lauren:

Since opening W’menswear Dressing Room, we’ve been fortunate to be surrounded by independent businesses run with real character and care. Over time, many of these places have become part of our daily rhythm: somewhere to visit, to linger, to learn from.

Neighborhood Guide grew out of wanting to share some of that. Not as a conventional city guide, but as a small record of the people and places around us that continue to inspire the way we live and work.

We begin with Madbacon Store, founded by Orada and Ake — a space shaped by memory, music, printed matter, and community. A place we have long admired.

We hope this series offers a way into the wider world around the collection, and perhaps something to return to if you find yourself in our part of Bangkok.

Warmly,

Lauren

What are the must-do activities when visiting Bangkok?

Orada: If visiting Bangkok, I’d recommend taking a walk. It might be a little hot but I’d recommend walking down the streets and alleys because you’ll be able to see Bangkok from a non social-media driven point of view.

Ake: I’d go with shopping because Bangkok has a lot of markets and night markets with lots of different items. Specifically I’d recommend shopping for vintage and secondhand pieces at Chatuchak Market, Train Night Market, and at Red Building. With markets all throughout Bangkok, there are truly so many options for shopping.

What are the must-eat foods when visiting Bangkok?

Orada: Try everything, but specifically Kuay Tiew Noodles because in Thailand there are so many variations for broths. I’d recommend trying, especially when freshly served. Delicious!

Ake: Let’s go with a category. Any Southern Thai dish, because I’m from the South and want everyone to try. It might be a little spicy with bold flavors but definitely try! There’s a place near Madbacon called “PakNang” which serves Southern dishes, I think from Nakhon Si Thammarat. I go there quite often and the food is incredibly tasty.

What is something that reminds you of your childhood?

Orada: I talked about walking down streets and alleys which reminds me of old grocery stores and convenience store from my childhood, where they’d hand snacks in the storefront with glass cabinets. It reminds me a lot of my childhood and walking home from school.

Ake: I guess all the activities I did as a kid such as riding bikes with friends, going to the beach and waterfalls. All the things I did before moving in to the city are great memories of mine.
